What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain And Bloating Along With Rectal Bleeding?
YYYY@YYYY My 17 year old grandson has had (for 10 days) complaints of lower abdominal pain and bloating. He has had some rectal bleeding. What we have do so far; MD appt. , ER with labs WNL and 4 abdominal x-rays negative. Back to MD sent to ER catscan of lower abdomen which was negative for appendicitis, possible ileus. He continues to have complaints of bloating and now is feeling exhausted . This is atypical for him.
Hello Since all his investigation including X-ray abdomen and CAT scan are normal so you need not to worry.
Excessive bloating might be related to Aerophagia (swallowing of air), indigestion, ill fitting denture, use of carbonated or caffeinated drinks, smoking or high protein diet.
Meanwhile ask him to have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in diet, complete avoidance of spicy and junk food. He can be given antiacidity medicines like pantoprazole or ranitidine group of drugs for 3 to 5 days.
Hope this answers your question, please do let me know if you have any more queries, I will happily answer you. Best wishes

Excessive bloating might be related to Aerophagia (swallowing of air), indigestion, ill fitting denture, use of carbonated or caffeinated drinks, smoking or high protein diet. In my opinion he should consult a gastroenterologist for an endoscopy and further course of action. Meanwhile ask him to have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in diet, complete avoidance of spicy and junk food. He can be given antiacidity medicines like pantoprazole or ranitidine group of drugs for 3 to 5 days.
