General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Pain while lifting weight does not indicate hernia.
This might be due to strain and spasm of abdominal muscles producing this pain.
If there is bulging in abdomen or in inguinal region while lifting weight might show developing hernia.
So please clarify about your problem so that I can give answer exactly.
Ok and take care.
