What Causes Low Platelets Count?

Hi. My sister has been taking HCG diet drops for about 3 months now. She has been told by her MD that she now has a low platlet ct and has to see an endocrinologist. She has lost 30 lbs and would like to loose more. I do't know her weight. She is 5'7". 57 yo. I have heard of lo platlets related to pregnancy. Just searching for info. Sorry, Hemotologist.

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. There are many causes of low platelet. Even viral infection can leads to low platelet count. ITP or some malignancy can also leads to low platelet count. You should go for bone marrow examination once. It is the investigation of choice. Then you should take treatment accordingly.
