What Causes Low Platelet Count While Taking Diphenhydramine?

I have a history of borderline low platelet count.I am 61 years and take 25mg of diphenhydramine nightly to help me sleep.I have done so for about 6 - 8 months. My latest platelet count was 123. Could the diphenhydramine be contriubuting to my lower count?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
The drug diphenhydramine is a first generation anti-histmanics that have very little association with your platelet count.
considering your age the count is about normal and need not panic.
however chronic use of this drug is not recommended, kindly consult with your physician, to switch over to other medication for sleep problem.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
I find this answer helpful
