What Causes Low Creatinine Levels In An Elderly Person?
HI I am a 75 yr old female. After having a blood test my creatinine came out at 61. I feel great, I pee regularly not too often, I don t leak. The only medication I take is Losartin ,100mg. I had been on 25 mg. but a PH raised the mg. and I am very active including excersising. If my creatinine is too low what could be causing it and how can I raise it?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As we get older we have less muscle mass. Creatinine is a breakdown product of muscle metabolism. Low creatinine is not a problem. Having high creatinine is a sign of kidney failure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
