Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Low Blood Pressure After A Knee Replacement Surgery?
My friend who is a woman that is 55-65 years old had a knee replacement and she has had 2 heart attacks since. Last night she said that her blood pressure was 60/40 and I am concerned about her and trying to get her to go to the doctor. She had the knee surgery less than a month ago.
Heart attacks and hypertension are generally not related to knee replacement surgery. These are different entities and both happen with age. The blood pressure being 60/40 recently is abnormal (too low) and she needs to see the doctor as soon as possible. This is because a heart attack may cause heart failure and low blood pressure, and urgent treatment is needed in this case.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
