What Causes Low BP While On Miralax?

My dd takes 1 TBSP of mirilax daily for IBS-C and 1 tablet of zyrtek daily during the fall months. She is 12 y/o, 4 ft 10 inches and 100 pounds. She also has environmental allergies, eczema and some cross reactive allergies between pollen and foods. The other day at her annual physical her BP was 101/40. Her appt was in the afternoon and she drank approx 24 ounces of water prior to this. My concern is the low bottom # on blood pressure reading. Is this a concern.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Miralax is a medication used to treat occasional constipation.
It works by holding water in the stool to soften the stool and increases the number of bowel movements.
This could be a cause of the low blood pressure.
I suggest you to drink liquids and eat regularly.
I also suggest moderate physical activity.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
