General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Loss of voice with persistent cough commonly occurs in irritation of the vocal cords, laryngitis, pharyngitis or tonsillitis, etc. Take adequate water and fluids to stay well hydrated. Give voice rest, do not talk. Gargle your throat with warm water & salt 3-4 times a day. You are throwing up due to coughing too much. Stay relaxed, take antihistamines for relief. Take antacids or PPIs to avoid acid reflux and throwing out. Do not take alcohol or addictions if any. Stay away from polluted air, second hand smoke, animal dander or anything that triggers cough.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT to rule out any lymph node swelling, tonsillitis, upper respiratory tract infection or any viral infection. Get required tests and investigations done. You may need a course of oral antibiotics/ antivirals if reports are positive. You will be treated accordingly. Take semi solid food like oats meal, porridge, custard so that you do not hurt your throat.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
