What Causes Loss Of Vision Despite A Normal Eye Examination?

I have been to the eye doctor atleast six times this year and nothing they done or told me to do has helped my vision. They said my vision is 20/25. My retina look fine. But every day my vision decreases a little more. I really can t Tell about my balance because I suffered a stroke affecting my left side and my balance is compromise. All the symptoms listed rarely apply to me,and I really don t know how to explain what I am going through or where to go for help. I just know I could see fine in May of this year but now it is a real challenge.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It looks like you are suffering from loss of vision due to stroke. Though it is difficult to regain your eye sight fully after stroke, yet there are therapies which effectively improve your eye muscle control, visual restoration and eye movement. It is good to know that your retina is fine but stay in follow-up treatments as retina artery occlusion may lead to permanent vision impairment.

Control your blood sugar levels if you are diabetic to avoid diabetic retinopathy & further complications. Other factors causing vision loss may be glaucoma, macular degeneration or cataracts.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
