What Causes Loss Of Upper Body Strength In A Dementia Patient?
my 84 year old father has mild Alzheimer disease and dementia. A couple days ago he fell off his lazy boy chair and had a hard time getting up. He also fell 2 more times off his chair. One time he was getting ready to go up to bed and he couldn t get off his chair. It s almost as if he lost strength in his upper body. He has a hard time pulling himself straight up in a chair, he seems to slouch always. What do you think it could be?

Hi,
Falls are frequent with old age people with dementia. Less of upper body strength with this could be due to injury to neck or may be due to formation of liquid clots in brain. Please get a CT scan (head) and an MRI (cervical spine) too.
