What Causes Long QT Syndrome?

I have had ekg that indicated that I had Prolong QT Syndrome. Now the doctors have being telling my family for years that we have Prolong QT but I just had a gene test done and it came back negative for Prolong QT. I would like to know what else it could be.

Prolonged QT has a number of causes:
1.Drugs-there are many drugs out in the market that may cause a prolong QT in susceptible patients. Some drugs include-Loratidine, diphenhydramine; some antibiotics like Erythromycin; antidepressant drugs like-amytriptylin, imipramine, citalopram, bupropion; cardiac medications like-quinidine, amiodarone, sotalol, and flecanide.
2.Metabolic abnormalities
a. low calcium
b. low potassium
c. low magnesium
3. Heart attack
4. Raised intracranial pressure.
