What Causes Lightheaded Feelings And Syncope During A Pregnancy?

hi im 14 weeks pregnant and yesterday while standing outside for 30min i got real light headed as i tried to head inside to sit it was getting worst and i blacked out and fainted for a min my boyfriend picked me up and sat me down i then put my head between my knees and stood that way for 10 min drank water and after that was perfectly fine . should i be worried or see a doctor ?

Hi,
You seem to have suffered from postural hypotension. This is the fall in blood pressure that occurs on standing due to some conditions like general weakness, hypoglycemia, anemia and pregnancy. Once the person lies or falls on the ground due to the dizziness, the blood pressure returns to normal due to alteration in the position and consciousness is regained. This is exacerbated in pregnancy owing to the increased demands. Nevertheless, you should inform your consultant for further appraisal of the situation. Please take adequate rest and eat well.
