What Causes Light Headedness And Dizziness With Constant Thirst?

I have had some health issues that have been bothering me for the last couple of weeks. I m not sure that they are all related to the same thing, and I have had issues like these before, but not all at the same time. For the last couple of weeks, and especially this week, I have felt light-headed and dizzy. That has happened before, but it is more prevalent the last little bit, and it especially bothers me when changing positions. I have also noticed it even when just sitting this time. But I have also been very thirsty, even though I am drinking lots of water. I can t say that I have felt nauseous, but I have had that sensation in my mouth that you get when you think you are going to be sick. I have also had some tingling and numbness in my extremities and my lips. I have also had a slight head ache, some sinus and upper jaw pressure, and some fatigue. Like I said, I have had all of these before and have had them all checked out with different doctors and at different times, but I have never had all of them at once. I have seen an ENT and received some treatment and I have also seen a neurologist about many of these symptoms. It has been a few years since I have seen a neurologist. Everything was normal at the time. I have also had my regular physical and everything was normal. This was in February. The only other thing I have noticed that has changed some is that I have a hiatial hernia, and the reflux that I have from it has been bothering me more than usual. I do take a daily PPI for this. As I type this, I know I sound like a hypochondriac! I promise that I m not. I usually just push through when I don t feel well, but this has been worrying me some.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thirst is indicative of dehydration leading to depletion of minerals like Na, K, etc causing body electrolyte imbalance & hence lightheartedness or dizziness.

Heat exhaustion or diabetes can be the other factors causing the symptoms.

To avoid reflux, continue to take PPI's when required. Avoid spicy, oily, hard to digest food, take small meals multiple times a day.

Take digestives (Aristozyme) to help ease digestion. Take home made food. Take laxatives, avoid constipation to get rid of gastric reflux.

Stay well hydrated, take plenty of water, ORS, soups & juices. You are suggested to get a thorough medical examination done to check glucose levels, blood pressure, CBC, etc.

Get Imaging tests done (EEG, MRI) to rule out any brain tumor or growth.

Get audiometry test & ear examination done by an ENT to rule out Vertigo or get treated for it if detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
