What Causes Left Sided Chest Pain?

Occasionally I experienced the following symptoms: pain begins on the left side of my chest, then a burning sensation radiates up the middle of my chest to my throat and then i feel pain across my lower jaw. After this the pain seems to move to my sternum area and then subsides. I may experience 2-3 episodes a year, and recently had 2 in the last 2 months, with the most recent one last night. The last 2 times, it happened during the night. A few weeks ago I had a simple stress test and it was recommended that I have a nuclear stress test. I had an EKG which was normal. Should I be concerned that this may be a heart issue or does it sound more like indigestion? Im a 59 year old woman.

Hello and Welcome to Healthcaremagic fourm!

Thanks for writing to us,

The symptoms you have given are nothing related to the heart, and are purely acid re flux also called heartburn, I suggest you visit the Gastroentrologist for further evaluation if it's GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) which requires treatment.

Wishing you good health!
