Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 year old son has a knot under his chin next to his jaw line. I noticed it about 4 weeks ago. It has only bothered him once when I touched it. I can t say that it has changed in size. He doesn t have anything odd looking in his mouth. Can you give me any direction?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that a knot under the chin next to jawline that is tender to touch can be due to swollen lymph node also known as Lymphadenopathy can occur due to causes like chronic infection in head and neck region which can be related commonly to dental or oral problems/infections, throat infection etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like ultrasound, Biopsy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. In case if it is due to infection leading to Reactionary Lymphadenitis then he can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers and cool compresses over the lymph nodes..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
