What Causes Knee And Leg Pain, Bruising Behind Knee And Fatigue?

My granddaughter whom I have custody is 16 years old, She has been complaining of leg and especially knee pain (behind her knees). I looked at the back of her knees and found that she has considerable bruising some petechial in appearance. She has also been complaining of fatigue. I am very concerned. She is not very active and has not injured herself in any way. What could this be and should I take her in to see a physician immediately.

Hello,

Her symptoms could be related to an infection or a coagulation disorder. For this reason, I recommend consulting with her attending physician for a physical exam and some tests:

- complete blood count, PCR, ESR
- coagulation tests.

You should discuss with her doctor on the above tests.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
