What Causes Itchy Rashes All Over Body After Taking Codeine For Fever And Cough?

in just returned home from a cruise to Europe. While on the cruise ship I developed an upper respiratory infection with fever and sore throat and cough. I doctor came on the ship and prescribed codiene caps for the cough which was a dry cough and three days of anti biotics. I felt better after treatment but the symptoms returned along with a rash that is itchy. The rash has advanced over my body starting with my torso and now on my neck and scalp and back. Should I see a dermatologist or an internist? What do you think I mght have?Almost everyone got this URI.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You can consider seeing a dermatologist if it does not resolve.

The rash may either be a reaction the medication or a viral exanthem.
This is a rash that can sometimes occur with viral infections.

In most cases, it resolves with or soon after the illness has resolved.

Using an oral anti histamine would help with the itching. These are available over the counter

I hope this helps
