I am a 74-year-old woman. I have itching and burning under armpits and a knee. I have recently had a mammogram and ultrasound. Nothing negative was found except possible swelling in some lymph nodes. I have changed deodorants, fabric softeners, etc. and have gone without deodorant. The symptoms are lower but still there and I wash under my arms twice daily. Sometimes I am using OTC cortisone cream to help with the itching. What could be causing this? Thank you for your help.
Hello, as you mentioned itching and burning appears to be the predominant symptoms without any noticeable skin rash, this can be allergic contact dermatitis to your deodorants or soaps or lotions etc or it may be related to the sweating, if excessive. I would adv you to use bland soaps like cetaphil moisturizing bar for bathing, use any talc for your underarms and stop applying deodorants to your skin (instead you may use perfume over your clothes). Also Take tab Levocetrizine 5 mg at bedtime for 7 days. thanks Take care
