What Causes Itchy Bumps On The Legs After Taking A Shower?

Hi! Everytime I take a shower, I get bumps all over my legs. They re mostly on my thighs and they itch a lot. I ve changed shampoos and soaps (right now I use dove) and it hasn t made a difference. The itchiness usually lasts for around 30 mins after I get out of the shower and putting lotion on doesn t help either. Any ideas on what this is from?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complain eruption of recurring bumps all over the legs which occur after bathing can be most probably due to Contact Dermatitis.
CONTACT DERMATITIS that is an allergic reaction which occurs when skin comes in contact with certain agents that your body is allergic to like skin cosmetics, detergents, soaps, fragrances, leather, latex, etc..
You needs to consult an Allergist or an Emergency room and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests to rule out allergies and infection, micorscopic examination of scrapings from lesion can help..
As of now you can take anti allergics like benadryl for relieving itching and do cool compresses over bumps..
Apply Caladryl lotion
Use hypoallergic soap and detergents..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
