What Causes Itchy Bumps On The Knees And Ankles Of An Infant?

My 14 month old displayed bumbs on their thighs a week ago and would scratch at them. I thought they were bitten by mosquitoes but the bumps began to spread and she now has them on the front of her knees and they are spreading down to her ankle and foot. I just noticed some raised bumbs on the arms and starting to spread. Took her to the doctor yesterday and she prescribed an ointment with hydrocortisone in it. Put some on her after baring and she is now scratching even the more. I want to get this under control before it spreads really bad. What could this be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It may be an allergic reaction to mosquito bites. As your pediatrician prescribed steroid ointment, so apply it as prescribed. You can also give syp Fexofenadine after consultation. Watch for symptoms like breathlessness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
