What Causes Itching Sensation And Dryness On Lips Inspite Of Using Carmex Lip Balm?

Hi, recently about a week ago. I discovered that my lips were getting very itchy and chapped alot. And the products I would put on them *Carmex* would dry up really quickly. Now my lips are turning black! I m very concerned about this. Please help. This has happened before with my lips turning black and they stopped but I m more concerned because this is more than last time. Even my friends are noticing and are concerned. Please help me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

1. Stop all cosmetic products you use in face and lips.

2. Get a complete blood count to rule out anemia

3. Stop biting your lips as this will cause recurrent trauma to your lips and make them turn black.

If no improvement, please follow up with your doctor for a more specific evaluation and treatment.

All the best!
