What Causes Itching Penis Shaft With Burning Sensation?

I have been experiencing itching and burning sensations on the shaft of my penis with an occasionall sharp shooting pain that last for less than a second. The itching is intense and remedies like Tinactin burn for a moment then give temporary relief. What could cause these symptoms?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Going by description of symptoms its likely to be anterior Urethritis: Which is the inflammation of last part of urinary tube. Other possibility that needs to be considered is Balanoposthitis. Exact diagnosis will depend on clinical examination.

It would be very helpful if you could provide me following additional information.
1. Is there any discolouration of head of penis?
2. Are you circumcised?
3. Do you have any discharge from urinary opening?
Provide these details to your doctor for an accurate diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
