Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi! I have had eczema ever since I was born and recently my nipples have been feeling really itchy (normally before my periods) and one time I accidentally scratched them and they bled a little. After the scabbing happened, it got better for a few weeks and then clearish to pale yellow fluids began to ooze out. This is only happening to my left side and I m really scared that I have breast cancer. I do not feel any pain, swelling or lumps anywhere near my nipples. I m not sure what I can do as it s been happening for a month or maybe even longer now but I hope you can help, thank you so much for your time.
What you are suffering from may be because of wet eczema of areolar area.Though it can be an indication of Paget's disease ,kind of breast malignancy,it can be ruled out by investigations and follow up.
Please get your mammography done to find out any changes related to malignancy. You can do further follow up with surgeon in that regard. Apply a hydrocortisone and antibiotic containing ointment over affected area for 3-5 days. Antihistaminics like oral cetrizine once a day for 3-5 days will help relieve the itching. Keep the area clean and moisturized by applying vaseline. If symptoms persists, visit to dermatologist will be necessary.
Hope I answered your query. Feel free to ask any more query.
