What Causes Itching In The Arm After Donating Plasma?

I dontated plasma a week ago and this is my 4th time donating I noticed that this time the arm I donated was itchy and when I itched it, I got red bumps on my arm. I was wondering why that was. Would it be an allergic reaction to the needle or the things they use to wipe your arm with before inserting the needle?

Hi,

Yes, you developed an allergic reaction to the medication used on the cannula site. You should be careful next time and tell the paramedics about this allergy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi,
