What Causes Itching Bloodied Red Sores On Arms?
I just saw my 80 yr old mother this weekend and found her to have 25 or so bloodied red sores on each arm. She itches them a lot and in turn, she tears the scabs off and and more bleeding occurs. It doesn t seem to be healing, although she thinks it is. She is very frightened to go to a doctor, so I am trying to get information from the internet to show her how important it is that she go. Do the symptoms sound like anything specific that might be wrong and give me a link or a term I can search to get more information? We went to the pharmacist and when she stuck out her arms and said, can you help me, he told her to go to a doctor. I too think there is something terribly wrong, I just don t know how else to get specific info.

This could be scabies and that can be treated with permethrin cream.
It might also be inflammatory eczema but at this point the areas may be infected so she'd need a course of antibiotics.
But, yes, she must see a doctor if for no other reason than to get relief for the itching
