What Causes Itching Along With The Feeling Of Water Retention In Ears?
My left ear has been bothering me for about a week or so, it constantly feels as if it needs popped or if maybe there's water in it. And it's been extremely itchy. And I've noticed a weird odor coming from it now. Any idea what could be going on with it?
The symptoms you mention in query are probably due to a condition known as otitis media . An ear infection is caused by a bacterium or virus in the middle ear. The infection can occur directly or through eustachian tube when a person is suffering from upper respiratory infection . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order tests like Tympanometry , Acoustic reflectometry , Tympanocentesis and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out condition like water bubble in ear . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin ) or sometimes doctor may place tubes . For now take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling . Try to keep you ear dry even during bathing ,which is very important .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
