What Causes Itchiness In The Throat Along With Cough?

I ve been coughing for one week now due to the food I swallowed and it went to the wrong pipe. Its been one week now and its still there. I have no problem swallowing though but I can feel that little itchiness on my throat and still coughing. What can I do?

Hi..

If you do not have any difficulty in breathing or swallowing then I do not think there is anything serious.

However coughing can be due to irritation in throat causing itching and coughing..

But if you feel there is something wrong like breathing related discomfort then you need to immediately consult an Emergency room and get evaluated..

A clinical examination and if needed an x ray can be done to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms..

For now you can take cough suppressant like Dextromethorphan..
