What Causes Irregular Periods?

My daughter has not been getting her period monthly like she supposed to. This started since she got her period when she was 10. There has been times were she doesn t get it for 4 to 5 months. Now she is 18. Her last menstruation was on February of this year. I am very concern. Is this normal?

Hi I think she should be evaluated. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound done to see uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of irregular periods. If anything is abnormal, it needs treatment. She may need hormonal treatment also. Consult a gynecologist. Hope it helps.
