Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sharp pain in my right ear. It comes and goes but when it does hit its extremely painful. I can touch my ear and there is no pain. Yet these spasms are strong. I have been under a lot of stress lately can it be from that? Thank You For your time
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of intermittent sharp pain in the ear. The probable reason for blocked ear is ear infection, because there is pain . Sometime infection spread to ears through eustachian tube , when upper respiratory track infection is left untreated. It could be due to foreign body infection, excessive wax and fluid accumulation. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup and treatment . Doctor will examine ear and throat physically and ears with otoscope and rule out causes like wax buildup and temporomandibular problem . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin) at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory drugs . For now kepp your ears dry and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
