What Causes Intermittent Itching And Burning Feeling In Vulva?

Yes. Thank you. My vulva has been not right for the past one plus years. I ve gone to gyn twice to have pap done and to see if I had a yeast infection. Everything was normal, however, the itching and feeling like my skin is tearing keeps on happening. When I shower it feels like my clitoris is burning like as if there is soap irritating it. I m at a loss and wondered if his could be just pre menopausal changes. I still get my period monthly I am 53 1/2 yrs old. Thank you for your thoughts

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The itching and burning feeling can be related to vaginal dryness which is normal during menopause.
The most common treatment for vaginal dryness due to low estrogen levels is topical estrogen therapy.
These replace some of the hormone your body is no longer making.
That helps relieve vaginal symptoms.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
