What Causes Intermittent Grey Area In Peripheral Vision Along With Pain In Head?

I have been having an intermittent grey area of pulsating vision in my right eye s peripheral vision. I also have been getting the same exact location of pain in my head on the left side above the ear and behind the left temple for a couple of weeks. I m assuming I should have this investigated? I just keep thinking it will go away. It s not constant Thank you, Victoria

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Intermittent grey areas in peripheral vision along with pain in the head can be caused by various conditions, including migraines, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and other eye or neurological disorders.

If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is important to see an eye doctor or healthcare provider who can evaluate your condition and provide a diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. Diagnostic tests, such as a visual field test or an eye exam, may be necessary to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Treatment for intermittent grey areas in peripheral vision and head pain may include medication for migraines or glaucoma, surgery for retinal detachment, or other interventions depending on the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. H. Kay, General & Family Physician
