Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Intense Pain In The Elbow And The Upper Arm After A Shoulder Surgery?
I had shoulder surgery last Friday, 6/10/16. I had my bursa sac removed, a bone spur shaved off and the rotator cuff cleaned up. (No tear) Yesterday and today I have been experiencing increasing pain inside my elbow and inside my upper arm. It is too painful to extend my arm completely. Could this be a blood clot at my inner elbow?
The pain in elbow and upper arm indicates possible nerve compression of brachial plexus through edema around operative site or else. The blood clot is not possibility here and it is better to discuss the same with your treating orthopedic surgeon who will address the same with best efficiency to cure it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
