Sleep is less in elderly as compared to young people.
However,
tiredness, listlessness and low feeling can be due to less or disturbed sleep and less rest to body and mind.
Sleep hygiene is required which includes good, undisturbed and sound sleep.
Some modifications can help to improve the quality of sleep.
Avoid late night awakening, avoid beverages like tea, coffee or alcohol at night.
Take light dinner at night and add little strolling after dinner.
Relaxing activities like exercising, yoga. etc. will also help.
At the same time, get a complete hemogram and peripheral blood smear examination done to assess the level of
hemoglobin.
Low hemoglobin can be the cause
anemia which often leads to tiredness,
fatigue or listlessness.
In case anemia is present, it has to be corrected depending on the type of anemia.
