What Causes Inflammation And Swelling In The Knees?

My husband had a stroke 2 years ago. He sometimes has blood cell problem, low white-count. He also has had a stent for about 10 years. He has started suffering from poor circulation . Last week he fell down one step, and the next day after exrcise, the knee was warm, and puffy. It has been difficult for him to walk on the foot, without a walker. We have put ice on his knee, not much change. (He also had an inflamed tooth this week) Can you suggest what these symptoms mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
the symptoms suggest inflammation of the knee but septic arthritis cant be ruled out. he has poor immune system. its better you consult orthopaedic doctor. only after examination and blood test he can rule out any infection. if it is only due to inflammation then NSAIDs can b given.
