What Causes Inflammation And Swelling Around A Genital Wart After Applying Podocon?

My husband us using the medicine Podocon-25 to treat a genital wart - the instructions that came with the package were not great - after reading more info online it looks like he was only supposed to apply the medicine for at most an hour but he left it on all day - now the area around the wart is very red, swollen, and the skin is starting to peel. I am guessing he may have a chemical burn - he spoke to his doctor today and will be seen on MOnday. However, he is wondering if he should apply Vaseline, Aloe, or antibiotic ointment to the area to soothe it or will that be worse because it will seal the chemicals into his skin more and cause more damage?

Hello,

Recommended duration of application is 1 to 4 hours, not more than that, but anyway now the time has gone we have to think about future management only. My recommendations till you see your doctor:
• Thorough washing with clean water and antiseptic solution of the local part
• Ice application for 10 minutes each every 8 hourly
• Apply aloe vera gel 3 times a day -- thin layer gentle application to be kept for 30 minutes only
• Wear dry, cotton, clean innerwears
• Take tab Tylenol will help in symptomatic recovery
