Hi, i have a slight indent in the roof of my mouth. it looks like a small bit of flesh missing but i dont recall this pain. the only recently relevant incident is me eating something hot and having burned that region some, which led to my skin there becomin loose which is when i rubbed the hanging loose skin out taking off a layer of skin from the roof my mouth. im worried about this indent what is it could it be gum disease and will it get larger?
Thanks for your query . The most probable cause of your symptom is condition known as aphthous ulcer (canker sore ) . There can be many reason for aphthous ulcer like minor injury , stress , vitamin deficiency or some medicines like ibuprofen . Usually they go away by there own in few days .
I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day , avoid hot and spicy food , keep your stress level low and start taking vitamin supplement containing vitamin B12 and folic acid.
If condition doesn't get resolve in week then consult dentist or oral pathologist for proper examination and to rule out other conditions . Docor may prescribe antiseptic mouthwash like listrine . lignocain gel for pain or burning or may remove hanging mucosa surgically .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
