What Causes Impaired Balance And Flopping Body Without Stiffness?

I am observing a friends odd movements. When in the passenger seat of the car and when the car hits bumps his body lunges side to side, forward and backwards like a rag doll. His head flops hard all directions. If the window had been up I m sure he would have a concussion, or whiplash. It s like he has no strength to counteract the energies of being jarred. When we were on a four wheel drive road his body was flopping all over the place. He is 20. Very thin. Sleeps a lot. It is really a weird thing to see.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management drugs like Betahistine has to be tried. If symptoms persist better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated to rule out conditions affecting inner ear.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
