What Causes Hyperthyroidism?

I was recently diagnosed with a tumour in my bladder. I was scheduled to have a TURBT but the surgery had to be postponed because of a blood test which showed my thyroid was about 4 times as high as it should be (I forget the measure). I believe it is called hypothyroidism. I am seeing an endocrinologist next week. Could the two things be related?

Hi,

Yes, hyperthyroidism may cause serious health issues during any stress. Condition like your surgery so it must be postponed until and unless you get control over hormone levels.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shafiq Ahmad, General & Family Physician
