What Causes Hypersomina?

I have been fatigued for about 5 or six years. I was diagnoised with hypersomina. During this 5 or six years I have gained large amounts of weight 30 pounds in 4 months. I aslo develoved granuloma annalares rash on both hands. I also experienced the growth of lumps under skin in arm, legs, and stomach. Last year I had bilateral pulmonary emboli, not reason could be found. Not on birth control and no long trips. Scans also show lung damage either from sarcoidosis or TB along with nodles in several organs. I never had TB. Lung function are normal. So they say no scarc. I also have brain fog and joint pain.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that hypersomnia could be not related to the other troubles (granuloma, lumps in the skin, pulmonary embolism).

Anyway, I would like to know what type of hypersomnia was diagnosed?

Considering your symptoms, I would also recommend checking for sleep apnea. A multi sleep latency test, coupled arterial blood gas analysis would be helpful.

Modafinil or a CPAP device may be needed, to help improve your symptoms depending on the above test results.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards, Dr. Aida
