What Causes Hot Flushes In The Morning While On Levothyroxine?
84 years old on Levothyroxine.. having intense heat flashes waking me early morning hours. not much perspiration but exhausting. I was recently diagnosed UTI s causing severe side effects similar to strokes!!! No evidence of ever having a stroke!! Levo taken routinely 9:00n a.m. every morning. TKU. jwc
Levothyroxine is very helpful to treat low thyroid function but patients need regular follow ups to make sure the level of thyroid hormone in the blood is normal.
Especially with symptoms of hot flushes the first thing is to measure the TSH in blood to make sure you are not taking more Levothyroxine than you need so i would recommend you to talk with your doctor and have the TSH checked. Normally it should be 0.5-5 mU/L. If TSH is under 0.5 it means you are taking more Levothyroxine then you need and the doctor needs to adjust its dose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
