What Causes Hot Flushes And Anxiety In An Adolescent?

My daughter who is 14, has been having good hot flashes . The Dr did blood work, and said her vitamin D levels were low and to increase the levels to take a vitamin , increase her I take with foods and sun exposure. The Dr did another blood test her level is a 29 now. He dosen the think it is due to her vitamin D levels now. She has anxiety, can the sleep well, normal blood pressure, but has always been under weight. Could it be pheochromocytoma?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your query.
Pheochromocytoma has associated heart/ hypertension symptoms... which are lacking in your daughter.
I feel she is in adolescence.. which is the age with lot of hormonal shuffle due to emerging menstrual cycles. The symptoms she has are more likely due to the hormonal imbalance she is undergoing.Anxiety, hot flashes, disturbed psychology...
What she needs now is psychological assurance/ healthy balanced diet with good iron, proteins (soyabean products ), vitamins & minerals/ regular exercises/ concentration on studies./ relaxation techniques & positive thinking.
For hot flashes she should be relaxed, avoid alcohol or smoking/avoid spicy food
Thanks.
