What Causes Hot Flashes While Suffering From Anemia And Diabetes?
I have been diagnosed with chronic anemia and type 2 diabetes. I am 73 years old. I have begun having frequent hot flashes that begin with my neck, then involve my head and finally my underarms. I have had these hot flashes for many years but they were originally brought on by stress and were much less frequent. Now the occur at any time. I m also being treated for depression with Pristiq and Wellbutrin. Can you attribute these hot flashes to any one thing? They make me very uncomfortable and anxious.

There are 2 main reasons for hot flashes in your case as 73 years old diabetic:
- changes in blood sugar levels (bsl) especially if spiking up
- spikes in blood pressure (bp)
To me, should monitor your bsl and bp, record the results for future reference.
Plus, should run a complete cardiac check up (EKG, echocardiogram, stress test) and thyroid function test to rule out related problems.
