What Causes Hot Flashes After A Partial Hysterectomy?

I had a partial hysterectomy (one ovary left) about 7 years ago, and a couple of weeks ago, my hot flashes has turned into sweating all day and night. I am constantly moist under my cloths. Is this normal? The reason for my hysterectomy was positive for pre cancerous cells

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

It would be helpful to know your age as the excessive sweating could be menopausal symptoms. The symptoms are due to changes in hormone production by the ovary. Most women attain menopause around 50 years of age.
Measurement of blood hormone levels, LH/FSH ratio can confirm the diagnosis. Another possibility is hyperthyroidism (increased thyroid hormone levels)
Depending on the tumor characteristics for which uterus was removed and severity of hot flashes, you can discuss with your doctor to see if Hormone replacement therapy is ideal for you.

Hope this answers your questions
