What Causes Hole In The Tooth Along With Painful Lump On The Gum?

i don't have any money to pay you but I really need help and do I need to go to the ER!!!!!! Okay so I had a silver filling done when i was younger and part of it fell out awhile ago and now it is just a big hole in my tooth but it was not bothering me and I tried to keep food out of it the best I could but I started having pain about a week ago then I started getting swollen on my bottom right side and if I stick my finger in my mouth in between my gum and cheek I can feel a lump and its painful then the next day my right side of my face looked like I had a softball in my Cheek and I got a rag wet put it in a zip-lock bag and microwaved it then held it on my face helped some and the swelling went down some but I was still in pain so I went to the er the following day it was Sunday and they gave me some amoxicillin 500 MG capsules and I thought they would help so I took them for a few days and I still had some swelling but that was expected then the swelling got worse then before I started taking the amoxicillin so the next morning on Wednesday I went to the dentist and told him that I went to the ER and it was getting worse so he gave me Amox/K clav 875 MG tab nort and it is now Friday and I cant touch my cheek with out wanting to cry and the swelling has spread to not just the side of my face but to the bottom of my jaw and within the last few hours I have been getting a headache and my eyes feel like their is pressure behind them please help me send me an email at YYYY@YYYY

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that as you have a large hole in the tooth along with pain and swelling over the gum and has became severe and spread over the face along with radiating pain in head and eye pressure.
Well, all of the symptoms are indicating towards dental abscess that occurs when the infection from tooth spreads deep to the root canals and below the root tips of tooth and forming pus..
The pus perforated the bone and gets accumulated in the soft tissues leading to swelling..
Taking antibiotics in such cases can reduce infection and swelling to some extent only..
For permanent resolution you need to get the tooth treated..
You should consult an Endocrinologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like xray can help in diagnosis..
In case if tooth can be saved root canal treatment of tooth followed by a course of antibiotics and painkillers will help..
In case of extensive decay extraction of tooth will be the last option..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
