What Causes Hoarseness While Treating Acute Bronchitis?

I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. Was given robotussin for cough (which was very slight), then was given levaquin and had a bad time with it and dr. took me off it and put me on prednisone. I finally had to go to the hospital and the xrays and blood work were normal. they gave me the following meds: Desloratadine, Methylpredenisolone, proair inhaler, and azithromycin. I have been able through a nebulizer to expectorate phlegm and feel best; I do this treatment 4x daily, every 4 hours. As of today, my voice is like Gravel Gertie and I must say that I do feel okay except for the voice problem. Can you suggest something?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have hoarseness while treating acute bronchitis. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are either due to poor immunity of body and leftover infection. I would suggest you to take benadryl twice a day and keep yourself hydrated and eat light and non spicy . If condition persist or you experience difficulty in breathing then consult allergy specialist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may give adrenal short to prevent anaphylaxis and prescribe anti inflammatory along with immunosuppressants . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
