What Causes High Fever Along With Vomiting And Stomach Ache?
Hello My daughter has been in Mexico on vacation and came down with the flu. 103.5 fever that broke after 21 hours of sleep. Then vomiting the next day, which has passed. Now her stomach goes from fine, to burning, to shooting pains. Any ideas what is causing this or what we can do for her?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The fever, vomiting, and stomach cramps are likely due to viral gastroenteritis. Follow a liquid diet for next 24 hours, followed by BRAT (Banana, rice, applesauce and toast diet) until the acute symptoms subside.
If no relief is noted in the next 2 to 3 days, then follow up with primary provider to rule out bacterial gastroenteritis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
