What Causes High Fasting Blood Sugar Level While On Medication?

I have diabetes for the past 10 years. I am 52 years old. I take Janumet 50/1000mg, twice a day for the past 3 years under Doctor's advise.
I walk one hour, six days a week and am very cautious about my diet. I am 5 ft - 11" tall and weigh 75 Kgs. Inspite of all the care I take my FBS is around 130 to 140. My PP and random results are satisfactory and normally range between 90 to 130.
My Endocrinologist says he is satisfied with my results as my HBA1C is 6.1 ands insists on continuing the same medication.
Could you please explain the reason for my High FBS and suggest an alternative medicine.Thank you.Raj

Diabetologist 's  Response
According to American diabetes association ADA, our target for control is fasting 70 to 130 and pp 70 to 180 and HbA1c So you have uncontrolled fasting.

You repeat your tests and ask for HbA1c test by HPLC method..stick to your medicines and diet..exercise.

if still uncontrolled you will need another drug..your doctor will decide.
Best wishes
