What Causes High Blood Sugar Level?

My husband went to doc .. He had shoulder surgery last week we took his sugar test that his mom takes it was high it was 547 .. So we went yesterday and had test his blood sugar is 489 why didn t we know this before why so high he goes once a month to doc they never said a thing about this

It is quite unusual that all of sudden such high level of sugar occurs. But is is possible as in some individual acute hyperglycemia may occur id they r having continuous use of steroid but as ur husband is nvr on steroid so it is impossible.
These sugar level are indicating about uncontrolled diabetes.
I will suggest u to go for a HbA1c test which will average blood sugar for last 3 minths and it is a confirmatory test.
Again if its high plz visit a internal medicine specialist and take medication for control ofdiabetes
