I m a diabetic with uncontroled glucose levels. I m currently on a weigh loss program. I m eating certain vegetables and protien along with packets that are prepared with water. No sugars or carbs. I ve been on the program one month and i ve lost 6 pounds. I take my blood sugars before meals and they always run over 200. I don t understand why?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Even though your diet and other lifestyle changes may help to control your blood sugars, you are still a diabetic and there may not be complete control.

Blood sugars may go down but in many cases, do not go back to normal.

You are probably using vegetables with either a low carbohydrate value or low glycemic index, these would still have some small effect on your blood sugar.

You need to continue your medication as prescribed by your doctor to help control the readings. If you reach the point in your lifestyle change where they are normal without medication then it is possible that you can be maintained on diet and activity alone.

I hope this helps
