What Causes High TPO Levels, Exhaustion, Sore Shoulder, Back And Neck Muscles?

My TPO level is over 1300. Does this confirm Hashimotos disease? Also, I have been extremely exhausted with severe malaise along with very weak and sore shoulder, back and neck muscles. Are these all associated with Hashimotos or do you think I have something else going on as well?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Anti TPO antibodies are a marker for Hashimoto's disease. That means you are "at risk" of developing hypothyroidism.

The symptoms and treatment depends on your thyroid function tests. If your thyroid function tests are normal - that means at present your thyroid is not affected by hashimoto's but you are at risk.

The treatment is started when your TSH goes above 5 miu/ml. In similar cases what we do is to do a thyroid function tests every 6-12 months.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
